Does your parking lot or driveway say “stay away,” or “welcome?” Your business’s first impression begins with your parking lot, and your commitment to excellence should extend to what is often the largest square footage area of your business. It's all part of the customer experience!
In places like Wisconsin, parking lots have extreme conditions to stand up to: large changes in temperature, salt, melting snow and rain, on top of carrying extreme weight from everyday use. Patching cracks and potholes as they pop up will save you from costly repairs down the road.
At PLM, we use the infrared patching method. Here’s how it works:
The infrared chamber makes the existing asphalt around the damaged area soft enough to be workable again. This reduces the amount of asphalt needed to create the patch.
After it’s heated, a rejuvenator is sprayed over the scarified asphalt to replace the natural oils that have deteriorated with time and use. Fresh, hot asphalt is then added into the existing asphalt and spread to level off the patch. The edges of the patch are then cleaned up and prepared for flattening.
Rollers are used for compaction to level off the patch with the rest of the parking lot or driveway. Once it’s compacted, it’s ready for regular use! This method is efficient and environmentally friendly. By using infrared patching, the amount of asphalt needed is reduced by approximately half.
Don’t let cracks and potholes go unaddressed--it will cost you more in the long run.
