Paving your parking lot or driveway will add aesthetic value to any property. The paving and compaction process will be done with the most modern equipment available. The asphalt will be placed to a predetermined depth; it will then be rolled and compacted with a series of rollers and hand compactors to achieve proper compaction and density. There are several different categories of paving: New Construction: New construction consists of excavation of an area, adding a new stone base, grading and compacting. Finally an asphalt mix is installed at the proper thickness designed for your needs. The thickness will be calculated based upon traffic flow, vehicle weight and soil conditions. Overlay: Often an asphalt surface is deteriorated but still maintains the structural integrity needed to perform an overlay; an overlay is a new layer of blacktop which is applied directly over the old layer of asphalt. A mill will be used to remove old layers of asphalt at transition, and critical drainage points. The area will be cleaned, and a tack coat (glue) will be applied to assure adhesion of new pavement to old. A new asphalt layer is then installed and compacted. Remove & Replace: Deterioration of asphalt is a result of a combination of elements. Poor base, poor sub-base, inadequate asphalt thickness, poor maintenance, construction traffic and Mother Nature can all playa significant role in the failure of your bituminous blacktop surface. Once your asphalt bas oxidized and deteriorated to a point where an overlay is no longer an option, we will remove and repave your lot in accordance with industry standards. Remember your parking lot surface is only as strong as the base beneath it, this is why we will proof roll and undercut as necessary prior to paving to assure a longer lasting pavement surface. Pulverizing: When asphalt has deteriorated to the point where it no longer qualifies for an overlay we often have two options. The first, as stated above, is removal and replacement. The second option which has limitations is pulverizing and replacement. If you have a solid base and your match points (buildings, walkways, curbing, concrete pads, roadways etc.) allow for the elevation of your lot to be increased, pulverizing can be an economical altemative. A large milling machine is used to grind your asphalt along with a percentage of your base. The area is then watered, graded, rolled and re-paved to a pre-determined thickness to meet your traffic needs. This method will often increase the thickness of your base, thus giving longer life to your pavement. The economical value of pulverizing comes from the elimination of your trucking cost. We no longer need to haul the material off of the site which in turn will reflect a savings to you as our valued customer.
